"Vanilla Sky" David Aames Jacket 4

We have all had those defining moments when we noticed a film personality on the silver screen wearing a fantastic leather jacket. Or maybe you fell in love with James Dean’s iconic red windbreaker. You thought it looked so great and you knew someday you would have one just like it. This is a forum to discuss those jackets.

From what I can gather, there are at least 4 jackets worn by Tom Cruise in this movie. This is the fourth one. We have had several requests for "the brown jacket that Cruise wears throughout most of the movie."

The jacket above is the fourth one you see in the movie. Then there is the second jacket, which is a heavier wool jacket:

and during the club scene, there is this third shiny jacket:

I do not think any of the requests are for these two jackets, but please let me know if I am mistaken. The first jacket pictured below, can be seen in this thread:

Love this movie and this jacket. I actually bought a similar tan suede coat right after the movie came out and still wear it often. It's my most comfortable jacket.

May have to get Mags to do this one. I love the stitch lines on the collar.

MB1101 got one of these recently and its damn sweet. I'm currently saving for one as well. Again, its Jonathan A Logan and its a beaut. I spoke to JAL about a fortnight ago about colours as the movie colour is a little bit too Tan and light for me, but he sent me some other Hides to choose from, plus the brown version of a beautiful paisley lining i had seen in one of his Max Payne jackets that was posted here in the members section that took my breath away. I can't remember who that was but thank you.

As i said, i'm thinking of getting one of these and I can't believe that more people aren't wanting them. Anyway, on with the pics.

There are some wonderful browns here. I think i would go for the second lightest with the paisley lining. That would be a great combination and would make a fantastic Autumn jacket.

JAL also said that most hides come in 12 and they can slightly vary from dark to light so he can even provide different shades of individual hides. Would love to see his stock, must me incredible.

Opinions?

Looks like a suede jacket. Leather: perhaps number 3 of last pic. A example of a suede jacket.

i was gonna bump this one myself to ask about those other jackets. that shiny one he wears in the nightclub is awesome and i like that overcoat he wears at the beginning of the film too. does anybody know who i'd have to contact to find out the original makers? i tried the costume designer but there's no way to contact her.

Well, here we go again. I recently missed out on one of these on ebay (bugger) and i'm almost there saving for a JAL. That old familiar excitement is creeping in.

this is such a nice jacket, i have no idea why more people don't want them. So, fingers crossed, it should be here at the start of August.

I'll keep all 3 of you on this thread posted.
