"Casino Royale" James Bond Jacket

We have all had those defining moments when we noticed a film personality on the silver screen wearing a fantastic leather jacket. Or maybe you fell in love with James Dean’s iconic red windbreaker. You thought it looked so great and you knew someday you would have one just like it. This is a forum to discuss those jackets.

CR Jacket

Postby The Mantis » Tue May 29, 2007 12:29 pm

The jacket worn by Daniel Craig in the Miami Airport chase scene was made by Armani. Only a few were commercially made and even those are rarer than hen's teeth. At over $4000 a pop perhaps they should be...here are some pics of my friend's Simon jacket which has now made them the envy of most Bond fans....It is a lambskin jacket and it is buttery soft.

Better tell your friend to get a full size hanger for that jacket that extends all the way to the shoulder seams or he will soon have the indentations of the edges of the hanger in the shoulders. I never hang my Indy jackets on hangers for that reason. I learned my lesson tha hard way.

I will tell him, thanks! Here is a blurb from the Lindy Hemming interview in regards to this jacket:

Lindy: Well, there’s a leather jacket that Daniel wears in the film. That jacket was $4,000 when I saw it in Los Angeles and I showed it to him and we all agreed it had to be in. And so I talked to Armani and they said ‘yes, yes, OK, we’ll make it for you..’ and I thought ‘oh no, we’ll never be able to afford this..’ and I warned everybody and said ‘look,, it’s this really iconic jacket but it cost $4,000…’ and we needed like a huge number, probably 25 – you can see how the budget goes up. But do you know that they made them for me in the factory and they only charged me something like 400 euros each. So things like that are really great. The good thing for me is that the people who make the Bond films, Michael (Wilson) and Barbara (Broccoli), are very, very supportive.

That explains a lot. Peter B has a long running association with EON, one of the things he does for costume designers is make multiples of a designer jacket the costumer brings in. (Ie Mission Impossible). This time the designer company cut them a deal so they didn't need to come to him.

Shame, that would be right up his street, It looks like a A1 with a couple of extra pockets and Indy barrel sleeves.

Man, I don't even remember the jacket and I own the movie on DVD! It gives me a great excuse to watch it again though!

Thanks for the info.!

I know I could never afford a USD$4000 Armani jacket. So when I fell in love with the Bond jacket I did some searches on eBay (where else?). I came across this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MENS-STYLISH-FAU ... dZViewItem

Seeing I needed a jacket for a oversea trip I purchased it anyway. Now I know how you guys priced accuracy in your movie jackets, but this is quiet a similarly styled jacket when I tried it on. Barring the ribbing on the bottom of the jacket and the position of the pockets, with the correct ensembles the look is definitely there. I can post pictures if anyone's interested.

Excuse the bump, but I didn't find anything in the rules against this, so....

Does anyone that has the Wested version of this jacket know what kind of lining is used in the body and sleeves, and how many inside pockets there are? Wested's description here doesn't say, and their customer service response is... lacking. As in no response for several months.

Some things don't change then. I hear you have more chance of getting a reply if you call them on the phone as the chance of responses to emails seems to be quite low.
