I'd be really interested in seeing some repros of this jacket.

Some other sights of it are:

Doody in "Grease"

George Seagal's spanish friend in the unemployment line in the original "Fun with Dick and Jane"

MPM costumes are supposed to be making a replica of this.
Does anyone have a link to them?

They definitely had a replica of this jacket already, but the site is down. You can see what it looked like on the FILMJACKETS.COM main site here. The description was not written by me, it was from the website. I know his name is Paul Michael Glaser, not Michael Glaser and I cannot use the word "seminal" without snickering like a adolescent schoolboy in health class.

It does not look remarkably similar based on the one photo I could find of Glaser wearing the jacket. Of course, it is in B&W and we cannot see the back... If the one that MPM offered was remotely accurate, it looks like any nondescript halfbelt jacket. For example, Magnoli Clothiers offers the "Open Road" which is not too different.

Is the jacket that Ben Stiller wear in the modern adaptation of the show an exact replica of Glaser's jacket? I could swear at the end of the movie both actors were side by side wearing the same jacket.

The pockets in that movie with Stiller seem to be nearly vertical. I thought it was because Glaser's arms are up, but Stiller's jacket does not look much different...

I added some photos to the top post. There is a side shot that shows a bit of the back. The MPM Costumes version is not accurate to this one.

That is my favorite jacket from any Series.

Sadly that jacket was custom made for the show.

I would love to see a repro of it.

The day I was on-set he was wearing the blue snap-up.

Go figure! :lol

I believe that Jonathan A Logan made the jackets for the new movie with Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. I did notice in my screencaps that although the jackets are very similar - especially in the collar shape, one has epaulettes.

I seriously doubt that the jacket was custom made for the show.

I've read several articles that PMG set the tone of his style with clothes from his personal wardrobe.

Plus I have seen that jacket in other movies. It is referred to as a "dock" jacket of sorts.

Whomever did the movie jackets got the general idea down, but the jackets were seriously lacking details and that weathered "look".

Thats interesting.

Can you list the movies you saw the jacket in, as I would like to see that.

All I can tell you is that Dave Rawley, who was the costume supervisor for the show, personally told me that he had that jacket and I quote, "Custom made for the show."

Now that's not to say whoever made the jacket did'nt sell it to other productions

If I recall correctly Paul auctioned the jacket and his sweater on e-Bay years ago to benefit his Pediatric A.I.D.S. charity.

That and the infamous sweater he wore he purchased from a stall on Oliveria St.

He was right about the sweater as thats where I got mine. :D
