(Purportedly manufactured in the studio wardrobe department for Frank Sinatra in the 1965 film, Von Ryan's Express, then handed to Robert Crane who made it infamous in Hogan's Heroes which made it's debut that same year.)

I never quite understood the logic behind manufacturing something that could just be purchased off the shelf, as the jacket is clearly a standard A-2 style. Were these not readily available in the 50s/60s? It seems they could have saved a buck or two by buying off the shelf...
